The dental implant procedure takes place over multiple visits. Although every patient journey will be different depending on several factors, including time since extraction and the number of implants required, we can establish 4 common steps for implants.
First, every journey starts with a patient consultation to ensure you understand the options and how the treatment will progress. Dr. Lasry will also examine your mouth, gums, and teeth to ensure you are in good health for the treatment.
Secondly, if you decide to go ahead with treatment, Dr. Lasry will create a small pocket in your jawbone. A titanium implant is placed in the pocket and then the gum is sutured closed. This will be left to heal, allowing the implant to fuse with the bone in a process known as osseointegration.
Then, after this is healed, Dr. Lasry will expose the top of the implant and attach a healing abutment to the top. This will be visible above the gum line and will allow him to contour the gum to look as natural as possible.
Lastly, once this is healed, it’s time to place your dental crown, and the restoration is complete. Your new dental implant will be load-bearing and ready for you to enjoy your favorite foods again. You will be given aftercare instructions to help care for your dental implants.
